Practice information
Last Updated: Wednesday, 05 November 2025Brownlow Health was established in June 1994 by Dr Ed Gaynor, in collaboration with the University of Liverpool, Liverpool Health Authority and the Northwest Regional Health Authority, to meet the needs students at the University of Liverpool as well as the local population.
This collaboration produced two excellent sites. One on campus (now called Brownlow Health @ Student Health), and one in the former Liverpool Royal Infirmary (now called Brownlow Health @ Pembroke Place)
In 2005 we were successful in acquiring the personal medical services contract at Great Charlotte Street, in Liverpool City Centre. This practice was relocated to a newly refurbished premises on Argyle Street in June 2006, known as Ropewalks practice (now known as Brownlow Health @ Ropewalks). The Ropewalks, Student Health and Pembroke Place sites are now collectively called Brownlow Central, with a unified patient list across the three sites.
