Patients from any Brownlow Practice are able to attend these clinics at any Brownlow site, including Saturday clinics on a rotation basis across the practices.

Services:

Long Acting Reversible Contraceptives (LARCS)

Coils and implants are examples of Long Acting Reversible Contraception (LARC), which have many advantages over alternative contraception methods such as the pill.

LARC is contraception that doesn’t depend on you remembering to take or use it to be effective – they are highly effective at preventing pregnancy.

There has not been an extension to the licensed duration of use when being used for the management of heavy menstrual bleeding, or for endometrial protection as part of hormone replacement therapy (HRT)

FSRH have a dedicated online patient resource ‘Contraception Choices’. Developed by a team of doctors, nurses, and researchers from University College London (UCL) in collaboration with young women, Contraception Choices aims to help people decide which method of contraception might suit them best via information based on research evidence and theory, professional guidelines, and user views and experiences of contraception.

Cervical Smear Service

At Brownlow Health, we’re committed to ensuring your wellbeing. Cervical screening helps to prevent your chances of getting cervical cancer. This test saves 2000 lives annually in the UK. A cervical screening test is offered to women between the ages of 25-64.

Regular cervical smears are an essential part of proactive health care. Our skilled and compassionate team is dedicated to making this screening process is comfortable and accessible.

We are proud to offer an opportunistic smear service when you are attending for a coil or specific Saturday smear clinics linked to your GP practice.

If you are using HRT and would like to use a hormonal coil (IUS) for endometrial protection the Women’s Health Hub provides an ideal solution.
